django CMS now ships with TipTap, a modern, state-of-the-art rich text editor. It delivers a smooth user experience, JSON support, and a rock-solid, developer-friendly foundation.
Swapping out the third-party text editor is straightforward. See djangocms-text for more info.
The django CMS community's beloved djangocms-blog project is being rewritten for django CMS 4 and later, with testing underway and v4-compatible stable pre-releases available.
The django CMS form builder package is actively being maintained and improved. See djangocms-form-builder for more info.
django finder is a brand-new file management application for Django that makes handling files and images a breeze.
The project is currently in active testing and product management.
See django-filer for more info.
Make separate modules where necessary so that module functionality can be plugged in / plugged out and potentially replaced by other implementations of such a module.
Use Case: Replace the versioning module djangocms-versioning with a simple published / unpublished versioning module.

Have a design style guide so that the community can implement django CMS frontends (i.e. additional frontends for modules) that have the same look and feel.
new django-cms.org website based on django CMS v4 with new design.
django CMS supports an unlimited number of frontends and can be combined with different programming languages and frameworks.
This decoupled approach brings more flexible frontend design, continuity, and dynamic data capabilities.
See djangocms-rest and this pull request for more info and how to contribute.
django CMS' link plugin now automatically recognizes and offers links to pages but also other models, that are available publicly, such as blog posts or any custom model you might have in your project.
django CMS 4 brings a revised model structure with significant performance improvements across the board.
It introduces powerful versioning functionality, a new app configuration facility that lets other apps customise and control features, and dedicated Edit, Preview, and Structure endpoints, enabling the editing interface to work with custom models beyond just pages.
The release also includes a new and improved plugin architecture, new versioned Alias Placeholders replacing Static Placeholders for greater control, and many more minor improvements.
This set of improvements is aimed at making life easier for editors working on large-scale website projects. The admin page search now allows drilling down into results by showing parent pages, and comes with added pagination and a dedicated search box for more manageable navigation.
