Releases That Make a Difference

This month brought several key updates:

  • djangocms-text 0.5.1: A feature-packed release!

  • Table Support: The Tiptap editor now supports tables, expanding its formatting capabilities.

  • Dynamic Link Enhancements: Editing links is now smoother, with links staying selected for more intuitive adjustments.
  • HTMLField for Django Projects: This powerful field can now be used outside of django CMS, enabling broader adoption and flexibility.
  • Test Suite Upgrades: Enhanced test coverage, including JavaScript and integration tests for both Tiptap and CKEditor4, ensures robust performance.
  • djangocms-text-ckeditor5 0.2.0:

  • This CKEditor 5 extension introduces support for dynamic links in both Text plugins and HTML fields, enhancing cross-linking capabilities.

  • django-filer 3.3.1:

  • Bug fixes and compatibility updates, including a fix for a broken file field widget and better support with djangocms-versioning-filer.

Contributions Fuel Progress

December saw vibrant activity from contributors:

  • djangocms-text: 10 pull requests merged.
  • django CMS Core: 8 pull requests merged.
  • Additional contributions spanned django-filer, djangocms-text-ckeditor5, djangocms-text-ckeditor, and djangocms-moderation.

We’re thrilled to welcome Sa Jae Hyuck as a new contributor! Your expertise and enthusiasm enrich our community, and we can’t wait to see your impact grow.

Looking Ahead: A Key Transition

The community has announced the planned deprecation of djangocms-text-ckeditor by the end of Q1 2025. We encourage everyone to migrate to djangocms-text, which offers the cutting-edge Tiptap editor by default while retaining compatibility with CKEditor 4. This transition reflects our commitment to modern tools and improved user experiences.

Thank You, Contributors and Users

None of this would be possible without the energy and dedication of our contributors and users. Your feedback, code, and passion drive django CMS forward, and we are excited to continue this journey with you in 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, happy coding!
