A Look at the Numbers

Over the course of the month, we saw 48 contributions across 12 repositories, with a strong emphasis on improvements to the django CMS core.

Here’s a quick overview of where contributions landed in August:

• django-cms core received the most attention, consolidating its role as the backbone of the ecosystem.

• Popular companion packages like djangocms-text, djangocms-alias, and djangocms-frontend saw multiple updates.

• Even smaller packages such as djangocms-snippet and djangocms-transfer got valuable maintenance love.

In short: no part of the ecosystem has been forgotten – and that balance ensures Django CMS keeps evolving in a stable and future-proof way.

Welcoming New Contributors

A special highlight in August is the arrival of two new contributors to the project:

Joining an established open source project can feel daunting, but every contribution matters – whether it’s a small bugfix, documentation improvement, or a major feature. We’re excited to see these new names on board and can’t wait for their future contributions. Welcome to the community! 🌟

Outlook: What’s Coming Next

The pace of development isn’t slowing down. Here’s a glimpse of what’s ahead:

• djangocms-rest – thanks to the dedicated work of @metaforx, we expect a stable release within the coming weeks. This will open new doors for integrations, headless use cases, and modern API-driven workflows.

• A new design for django CMS' UI – aligned with the project’s updated design guidelines, Django CMS will soon receive a modern-looking user interface. This redesign aims to improve both the editor experience and overall usability, ensuring the CMS feels contemporary and easy to use for years to come.

• djangocms-alias for django CMS 5+ is round the corner. It will bring back the static aliases editable in the structure board, much like the static placeholders of django CMS 3.

• In September, the djangonaut space program is starting its next session. django CMS will be part of this session again, and a whole team will be working on django CMS!
