django CMS 5.0.6 Released

Fabian Braun

Feb. 22, 2026

We’re happy to announce the release of django CMS 5.0.6, a focused bug fix and compatibility release that improves stability, compatibility, and overall reliability.

This update does not introduce new features. Instead, it resolves several issues affecting placeholder handling, middleware behavior, permissions, migrations, and editing workflows.

What’s Included

In this release, we’ve fixed:

  • Copying failures when target placeholders were missing

  • Fallback handling when scanning includes for placeholders

  • ApphookReloadMiddleware not correctly handling new language variants

  • UX inconsistencies for external placeholders (such as static aliases)

  • GET parameters not being preserved when switching between preview and edit mode

  • get_permissions errors when global permissions were missing

  • Migration failures with django-treebeard >= 5.0.3

  • Issues in the make-changelog script

For more info, see the release notes.
